The IFF T-film 2020 handed out awards to documentaries from all over the world

The International Film Festival T-Film presents short documentaries every year from all over the world, whether it is amateurs, professionals, associations or organizations. The documents are then in the finals they will compete for prizes in several competition categories. This year's eighth year The International Film Festival T-Film has brought not only great news from around the world film, but also a whole new look. While in previous years he went after him the audience mainly to the multifunctional hall GONG in the Lower Vítkovice area, this year the T-film headed for spectators to schools and organizations in the Moravian-Silesian Region.

The essence of the festival is always focused primarily on primary, secondary and university pupils and students schools, but an interesting program is also prepared for the public. This year, they could comfortably enjoy the pictures at home soil and select those that most corresponded to their focus or teaching and learning plans for students of the Hello Grammar School in Poruba, the Silesian Grammar School in Opava or primary school pupils Bílovecká in Svinov, Jan Šoupal and Komenský in Poruba, Vrchlický Primary School in Radvanice or Secondary Industrial School in Ostrava-Vítkovice.

"It's absolutely great that we don't have to move the whole school to other premises and that we can catch those movies more. Nowadays, when we don't know what and how it will be, it's even better that we didn't have to to disturb nothing ", says Ivona Klímová, director of Gymnázium Hallo in Poruba. "I chose as a historian interesting films, mainly related to history, for example about Joachim Barrand, because he fit in perfectly with teaching, "said Vendula Kopťáková, a teacher at the Silesian Grammar School in Opava.

The festival also came to support the popular influencer Kovy in schools, which is the protagonist of the film Kovy solves history. His visit was enthusiastically welcomed not only by students but also by teachers. "I am the T-film 2020 festival decided to support, because I believe that especially in today's turbulent times full of challenges often Beyond the individual, it is important to look at the world from different perspectives and have an overview of what is around we are happening. Understand the international context. In many of the current problems, we are all together, and therefore I believe that documents from different parts of the world are a great way to deepen our understanding of our reality, expand and perhaps look at it from a whole new angle, ”says influencer Kovy.

This year's festival took place throughout September and those interested could visit the accompanying program, for example in Müllerov the house of the Silesian Museum in Opava, the G center in Ostrava-South or in the Municipal House of Opava cultural organizations. A record number of films competed for the main prize of the Grand Prix festival this year. The expert jury evaluated a total of 96 films by authors, including not only domestic representatives, but also, for example, from the USA, Estonia, France, Argentina and Serbia, and the awards of the T-film 2020 International Film Festival were handed out again this year in several categories.

The jury received an honorable mention from the domestic film The End of Golden Eels, the Opava Cultural Award organization took home the German document Mt. Suswa – life in a volcano, won the Ostrava Museum Award Czech film Joachim Barrande – The Lost Sea. The Czech documentary won the Perseus Prize Wandering with steam – Posázavský Pacific and the jury's award went to the Russian film Zrcadlo. In category The Russian film Chess won first place with inspiration, and received the highest award in the Man and Society category Belgian documentary 21st Century Medicine. The winner of the Green Planet category was a German film Wild animals among the fences, the award of the Silesian Museum then belongs to the domestic document Kovy solves history. The award of the mayor of Opava was received by the German film Unequal Brothers, the award of the deputy The MSK President for Culture and Monuments took home the Argentinian film Cracks in the Sidewalk.

The main prize of the festival – the Grand Prix this year was won by an American documentary called the Science Fair, which was co-produced with National Geographic and directed by Cristina Costantini and Darren Foster. The winning film maps the fates of nine students from all over the world who, through their research and inventions change the world.
